Objectives of the Project

  • Develop Nanotechnology Solution to address various pollution sources from wastewater:

By focusing on industrial wastewater plants and municipal sewage systems, the project aims to mitigate water pollution originating from these sources. The project seeks to design a cost-effective solution using advanced nanotechnology tools such as multifunctional nanomaterials and analytical techniques. This solution aims to effectively detect and separate toxic chemicals and biochemicals present in water sources, contributing to improved water quality, hence environmental health.

  • Collaborative Research and Training:

The project’s collaboration between the two main organizations (University of Central Lancashire, UK and East China University of Science & Technology, Shanghai, China) fosters joint research efforts, innovation, and academic training in the area of Nano-water technology. By pooling expertise from academia and industries in both the UK and mainland China, the project aims to enhance the capacity to develop effective solutions to environmental challenges and provide skillset to the young researchers.

  • Joint Ph.D. Supervisions:

Through joint supervision, PhD students will actively participate in the research work by learning bilateral laboratory health & safety regulations, local cultures and languages. This involvement not only advances the project’s objectives but also provides valuable hands-on training and research experience for the students, preparing them to be future leaders in environmental solutions involving nanotechnology tools and technology.

  • Integration into Education:

The project envisions integrating its research findings into existing post-graduate teaching programs.
